1、是为了给人们壮胆。本系列共七篇，是作者“不忘英语读原著”的副产品。
在作者笔下，Boxer是农场劳动阶层中少数几个形象生动的动物之一。
初次登场，作者就不吝笔墨：Boxer身材高大，有近两米高的个头，强壮得赛过两匹普通马相加，不过，他脸上长了一道直到鼻子的白毛，多少显得有些戆相。实际上，他确实不怎么聪明，但他坚忍不拔的个性和干活时那股十足的劲头，使他赢得了普遍的尊敬。

Many people nowadays desire to have a more peaceful world in which man and animals are friends. Having this dream, we should make a good effort to make this dream come true; we should educate people and let them realize that protecting animals and becoming animals' friends is a very good idea; we should im-prove our law because law controls one's action, so that less peo-ple will kill animals. As middle school students, we should try to influence the others. Let us all take a right attitude towards pro-tecting animals. I'm sure that in the future, in the square men-tioned above, there will be more children and grown-ups playing there, more lovely pigeons flying around them. Oh, I hope, I wish our world would be as happy as that!
